Contest Answers

Winner - Pat Hindman. He answered every question correctly - in detail. (Although I was looking for both Kyle and Van on "What's He Got", and he had "cause" instead of "girl" on #24). He took "Run For Your Life" as his prize.
Run for Your Life front cover
Brand new, still sealed in it's original shrink wrap copy of Run for Your Life.

-- Thanks, Tim (Pattison), for testing the contest questions and helping me decide where hints were needed..

11. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound1speaker image What's He Got
12. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound2speaker image I Love Lucy
13. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound3speaker image You Go Your Way
14. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound4speaker image I Love Lucy
15. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound5speaker image Body Language
16. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound6speaker image Life of Crime
17. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound7speaker image The End
18. I found the following 2 riffs similar (Sound8a and Sound8b). One is by The Producers, the other came out in 1983 after The Producers'. Beside The Producers' song enter "Producers" and the name of the song. Beside the other, name the band (and, not required, the name of the song.) Sound8aspeaker image Producers, Merry Go Round
19. See #18 and answer appropriately. Sound8bspeaker image Police (extra credit = Every Breath You Take)
20. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound9speaker image The End
21. What song does this sound clip come from? Sound10speaker image Body Language
22. I found the following 2 riffs similar (Sound11a and Sound11b). One is by The Producers, the other came out in 1983 (after The Producers') and is called "Computer Incantations for World Peace". Beside The Producers' song enter "Producers" and the name of the song. Beside the other, name the band. Sound11aspeaker image Producers, She Sheila
23. See #22 and answer appropriately. Sound11bspeaker image Jean Luc Ponty (extra credit = Computer Incantations for World Peace)
24. What is he saying here? (Every word must be right.) Sound12speaker image doesn't matter if we go around in circles girl you know that it won't do any good. (Most took it off the lyric insert and have "cause" instead of "girl" - personally I don't hear "cause")

Optional Trivia:

A. Who do you think Sheila is? I have developed an opinion after listening through the song a number of times. What do you think?
My opinion is that she is a model on a poster. I have heard The band introduce the song saying it is about a friend of theirs (maybe they knew the model in a poster)?
B. If you could interview one of the Producers, what would you ask?
C. Ihope you enjoyed the 2 similarities I shared in the contest. If you know of other songs with riffs similar to the Producers, let me know what they are.
D. What bands remind you of the Producers? The All Music Guide says thay were influenced by the Plimsouls. Do you think they are similar?

Notes:

I chose the .au format for the sounds because it is considered the universal web audio format. (These work from both Netsacpe Communicator 4.0 and IE 4.0 on Windows NT and from Navigator 3.01 on Mac.) The files are big but the sound quality is excellent (although there was some hum introduced when I sampled them into my computer). (I tried converting some of the sounds to Real Audio and some sounded alright but some sounded really bad.)
