Rockers roll on road with Miller as sponsor

Atlanta's Producers is one of 10 bands from around the country picked for "Rock Network" sponsorship this year by the Miller Brewing Company.

The brewery will help underwrite the considerable cost of touring for the rock 'n' roll groups. Miller's sponsorship, which provides more exposure for the bands, is an effort by the brewery to increase consumption of it's High Life beer by music fans 18 to 35 years old. Miller started the Rock Network last year, underwriting 5 bands, including Atlanta's Teddy Baker Band.

Other bands receiving support this year are the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Josie Cotton, Sound Barrier, Zebra, John Kurzweg & The Night, the Stompers, the Skip Castro Band, Lee Malone, and Pat McCurdy & The Men About Town.

Miller, which estimates the cost involvement is in six figures, pays for banners, posters and promotion for the bands with local distributors usually anteing up for T-shirts, buttons, and schedule cards promoting the band and the beer.
