The Contest is over. Click here for the answersWinner - Pat Hindman. He answered every question correctly - in detail. (Although I was looking for both Kyle and Van on "What's He Got", and he had "cause" instead of "girl" on #24). He took "Run For Your Life" as his prize. I have tons of updates to the Producers site and I thought a contest might interest you all in returning for some news. There are a lot of you out there looking for Producers albums to complete your collections. I happen to have come across extra copies of each of the Producers albums and am prepared to give one away. In preparing for this contest, I realized that The Producers did some HOT intros to their songs! This stuff is excellent music and really gets you hooked for the rest of the song. This is a big reason why I like the Producers. What follows are some of my favorite lyrics and riffs by The Producers. The Prize:Choose only one of the following vinyl albums.
The Rules:
Winner - Pat Hindman. He answered every question correctly - in detail. (Although I was looking for both Kyle and Van on "What's He Got". The first person to answer all of the following questions correctly wins the Producers album of their choice. This is genuine vinyl. I'll pay the postage. Only one album will be given away. The winner will be determined according to the time the entry is received and the correctness of the answers. You will have to identify the songs that certain sound clips come from, so dust off your Producers collection and give them a couple spins. If you are really an expert, you may be able to do all of this right here, right now (but I hope it's more difficult than that)! If not ("Expertise!? What do you know about expertise?"), maybe you should save the sounds to your hard drive (click and hold - mac or right click - windows and choose 'save this link as...") and sit down at the computer while you listen through your collection so you can compare the sounds to the songs. You may download all the sounds at once in a zip file for windows: Prodsnds.zip (637k) or in a Stuffit archive for Mac: Prodsnds.sea (624k). I am aware that you probably are not in the market for any of the Producers albums if you already have all 3, so I have taken that into account (to an extent). Good luck! I can't wait to see the entries start flowing. I hope you enjoy your romp through your Producers collection as much as I did. I still have their tunes running through my head every day. If you get stuck on a question or 2, send the entry in and let me know what the problem is (in the 'other comments' box at the bottom). I may have to publish clues in a couple weeks. Don't hesitate to enter...your odds of winning are really good - the site doesn't get much traffic. The winner will be announced on this page, along with solutions, once I have a winner. -- Thanks, Tim (Pattison), for testing the contest questions and helping me decide where hints were needed.. The Questions:Notes:I chose the .au format for the sounds because it is considered the universal web audio format. (These work from both Netsacpe Communicator 4.0 and IE 4.0 on Windows NT and from Navigator 3.01 on Mac.) The files are big but the sound quality is excellent (although there was some hum introduced when I sampled them into my computer). (I tried converting some of the sounds to Real Audio and some sounded alright but some sounded really bad.) |
